Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson Both lawyers. When she was just five and moved to Oxfordshire and attended an Oxfordshire-based Dragon School. When she was six years old, Emma knew that she wanted to be an actress and for many years she was a student at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theater school, where she learned singing dancing and acting. She had already performed in several Stagecoach and school productions when she was 10 years old. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the film version of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British novel was first cast in 1999. Emma was found by agents through her Oxford teacher. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone and Ron Weasley told Emma after 8 auditions, that she had been selected for the parts. Emma was chosen to play alongside Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. Emma's debut on screen took place with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's release in the year 2001. The film beat all previous records for opening day and weekend sales, and it was the most-recorded 2001 movie. Critics were impressed with the performance of the film as well as its story. The Daily Telegraph in Britain, which is widely distributed, called her performance commendable. Emma later won five awards in recognition of her work in the film.
